Fons Klein Tuente works full-time for the Netherlands Innovation Network as a Senior Officer for Innovation, Science & Technology, based at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Guangzhou.

Fons, driven by his love for Chinese martial arts, history and culture, pursued Chinese studies in Maastricht and Antwerp. He worked for LightInTheBox in Beijing from 2012 to 2016, leading Dutch business development and managing the Chinese company’s freelance team. Later, he became the deputy director of the international investment promotion department for the Foshan Bureau of Commerce until 2019, the first Dutch national to be hired directly by the Chinese government.

Fons' passion for science & technology led him to assume the role of Senior Innovation Officer at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Guangzhou since September 2019. Among others, he is responsibly for the energy sector and green transition, playing a key role in promoting the Dutch hydrogen sector in China. Focused on fostering innovation, he actively seeks out research collaborations and business opportunities to drive the advancement of sustainable technologies.
